The death-threats also make for a good excuse for the accused party to make themselves look like a victim. Asking them politely not to only encourages them. It's frustrating because a few edgy middle-schoolers who think they're being funny can reflect badly on an entire group of people with legitimate complaints. Some ill-adjusted dork is always going to dispense with the empty death-threats. I wouldn't say the community is to blame. The community was mostly to blame because some did issue threats. The developer went crazy and lashed out at the Steam Community.
